About the Speaker

Lien is the daughter of a Vietnamese refugee who escaped Saigon as it fell in 1975 on a helicopter. She is the first generation on her mother’s side to go to college. She grew up in Maryland sharing a home with various members of her extended family, sometimes numbering over 20 people. She currently serves as the Communications Manager at Outride, a non-profit committed to improving the lives of youth through cycling. In 2018, she started a creative agency in San Jose dedicated to bringing women and underrepresented minorities into creative projects. Lien and her husband Jamie have five out of seven kids left at home in Los Gatos. She has been volunteering to help evacuate the women’s national cycling team from Kabul, Afghanistan, since the beginning of August. Her efforts have so far helped 11 people leave the country.
